Monolith

Concept

Monolith is a minimalist 8-bit exploration game heavily inspired by oldest Zelda games.

The game sets place in a dystopian Sumer; the player controls an old strange man with the ability of summoning a block to solve puzzles.

The whole action and design challenge revolves around having the full game progression fixed on one single interaction: summon the block. While this ability evolves with exploration and new dungeons (summon several blocks, burning blocks, etc), the game is really a single-action button.

My role

I am currently working on the game design, level design, development and art (learning both Aseprite and art in the same time with this project). The game is developed with Construct2 (I probably will be shifting on Game Maker though).
