Swap City is a side-project developed with few other people, and has been released on Newsground and Kongregate. It is a die-and-retry platformer in which you control two characters simultaneously in separated levels, and have to make them reach the end of each level.
The game relies on a simple concept: each character has a color (between red / blue / green / yellow) that he can swap with the other character at will.
A character is immune to any hostile element from the same color (as such, a green character will not get killed by a green bullet; however, red, yellow and blue ones will make him lose), and can interact with other elements of his color (platforms, triggers, enemies, doors…)
I’ve been imagining the whole concept of the game, created documentation, developed most of the features (cannons, platform properties, patterns…)
I have been programming most of the game with Construct2 (it actually was my first programming experience!), helped by another developer during the end of the production. That includes game loop, basic features, enemies, etc.
Along with Development and Game Design, I have been designing a fair part of the levels of the game (around 50 levels, whole game containing 100 levels), along with testing and regular fixes.
